Double developments for leading analysts

By David Edwards

Edwards’ Analytical are pleased to announce two major business developments:

Perkin Elmer Spotlight 400 imaging system

The acquisition of a Perkin Elmer Spotlight 400 imaging system which incorporates a FT-IR spectrophotometer and an infra-red / optical Microscope to replace an older Perkin Elmer FT-IR/ microscope.

The new instrument has a number of advanced features such as auto-focus, greater special resolution (to 3um).and may be justifiably regarded as a state-of the art, top of the range analytical instrument.

Besides being able to record spectra with the main bench in all conventional modes, the microscope will record spectra in transmission and reflection and will have an ATR reflectance unit which will solve many problems of sample preparation. The Microscope has an automatic “mapping” mode to record spectra over an area of  75 x 50mm at 1um intervals.

Uses include analysis of multicomponent layers such as paints and packaging, contaminants in pharmaceuticals and forensic analysis of hair and fibres.
