Laboratories holding relevant UKAS accreditation are recognised by the USA’s FDA as complying with GLP.

Edwards’ Analytical also holds a licence from the Medicines Control Agency as a Contract Quality Control Laboratory and being in general compliance with the principles and guidelines of good laboratory practice.

We are a registered consultancy with both the Royal Society of Chemistry www.rsc.org and the Institute of Materials and a member of the Plastics Consultancy Network International www.pcn.org, which in turn is affiliated to the British Plastics Federation.

Because of the complexity of packaging materials, Edwards' Analytical has a Perkin Elmer Spotlight 400 comprising a FT-IR spectrophotometer with a microscope attachment. The microscope also has a micro ATR unit.This allows the measurement and identification of the individual layers of multilayered laminates and co extrusions as well as microscopic contaminants.

The equipment is also available for the analysis of microscopic contaminants in powders and liquids and pharmaceutical preparations, and for forensic type applications.

We have on-line access to numerous data-bases via the Internet and also commercial data bases, through which we can obtain information on standards, test methods, polymer and packaging suppliers and material data sheets and specifications.

A Near Infra Red spectral library of bones & ivories, ambers and historical plastics and latexes is being developed which enables identification without any sample or specimen preparation.

Edwards' Analytical also runs and takes part in external and in-house courses including those organised by the Institute of Packaging, the Institute of Materials and the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.

The in-house courses are tailored to meet the requirements of the client, but because of our particular nature, our contribution is biased towards the analysis and evaluation of packs, packaging materials and product delivery systems.

A complete service is aimed at so that we are able to advise on laboratory equipment and laboratory design and furnishing.
